In 2023, while living on Vancouver Island, BC I decided to pursue ski touring. I fell in love with touring on my first day. I enjoy the preparation, exploration, and community. Although big objectives are often the goal, I prefer to prioritize safety and enjoyment, over skiing the most appealing line. In the future, I hope to participate in multi-day tours and explore the extensive hut systems in Colorado.
After graduating University in 2022, I decided to pursue a challenge I dreamed up many years prior: 14 Colorado 14ers in 14 days. To be fair, this is nothing compared to Andrew Hamilton's record of 55 14ers in under 10 days. But to me, this would be an exciting opportunity to explore Colorado and spend some solo time in the Rocky Mountains. Luckily, the weather for this excursion was solid and I experienced only a few afternoons of hard rain, which is to be expected in Colorado. I broke the trip up into various mountain ranges and climbed a few of the mountains solo and a few with friends.
In preparation for traveling to Australia in 2020 I received my Scuba pool certifications in Colorado and eventually earned my Open Water Diver certification diving on Lady Elliot Island, on the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. I spent the next few months diving as much as I could along the eastern coast of Australia (south of Sydney). I've had the privilege of swimming with turtles, sharks, manta rays, seals, and dozens of fish. The Covid pandemic soon put a hold on my diving adventures and I hope to continue diving in the future.
